BGE PE aims to focus on healthy lifestyles, learning new skills and building confidence through a range of activities. Pupils will also look in more detail at tactics, skills and fitness whilst planning to improve personal performance. Pupil will experience a range of Significant Aspects of Learning which will give them an insight into the Mental, Emotional, Social and Physical factors that impact on performance.
Courses offered in senior phase PE are ‘Skills for Work’ course Sport and Recreation (National 4/5), National & Higher PE and Advanced Higher PE:
At Ayr Academy we are proud to offer a wide range of sporting opportunities to pupils both recreationally and in competitive environments. Pupils can opt to participate at lunch or after school in sports clubs such as, netball, football, basketball, dance, dodgeball, rugby and badminton. We also offer further opportunities for pupils to develop sports leadership skills, working closely with Active Schools and Scottish Rugby, in wide variety of programmes including Rugby leaders, Young Ambassadors, Coaching Academy and Sky Sports Living for Sport.
